I’ve just finished a series of life-drawing classes. This was a new discipline for me. It really pushed my skills in drawing, perspective, scale and composition. It is remarkable what a talented and imaginative teacher can get out of you. And how confidence grows with practice.
Paul on high stool: charcoal, exercise in form
Mary, seated: drawing with wire, exercise in continuous line
Paul on stepladder: watercolour, exercise in light and shade
Paul on low platform: watercolour and latex, exercise in warm and cool colours
These are good pieces. No mean challenge. Congratulations. Actually, where did you do your class, if I may ask?
It was quite challenging and intense, but very rewarding. Not least because they are all worked on a larger scale than I am used to as well. A1 paper. The class was one offered by the local adult education college. They run two classes, and are oversubscribed, attracting both amateurs and established artists. The room is the wrong shape and it’s all a bit crowded, but that made us all adapt and not worry about the perfect viewpoint, just get on with it and draw! ~fiona
Love it Fiona. You seemed to manage just fine
Thanks Edith, I was not at all confident at the beginning, but I’m very glad I did it. ~fiona
Hi Fiona. you have made some great progress. I particularly love the stepladder pose.
I have drawn Mary many times and in fact in the past so has my father – she’s in cupboards, on wardrobes and under beds in both ur houses!,
we should definitely organise an exhibition in Wolverhampton devoted to Mary!
